Families Connect with Nature at Mary’s A-Maze-ing Pumpkins on Mary’s Land Farm

For two Howard County families, connecting with nature at Mary’s A-Maze-ing Pumpkins was exciting and enjoyable.

The farm kicked off its second annual Mary’s A-Maze-ing Pumpkins event the first weekend in October 2021. Families (and friends) spent time immersed in the natural, peaceful environment. They breathed the fresh air, soaked up the warm sun, walked the somewhat tricky corn mazes, and picked bright orange pumpkins. The children met some of the resident farm animals and jumped around in the kids’ park.

Elaine, from Ellicott City, came with her husband and five children to spend a few hours outdoors. They’ve been cooped up during the pandemic and wanted to be outside on the farm. They’d visited the Clarksville Sunflower Festival at Mary’s Land in August and were excited to walk the fields in slightly cooler weather.

Feng and Yuan from Clarksville often shop at the Farm Store for fresh chicken and other products; they brought two-year-old Clara for hands-on experiences in a close, familiar, outdoor environment. Clara enjoyed the hay bales and sitting in a small wagon.

This weekend, connecting with nature took many forms as visitors walked the farm, played corn hole together, and selected just the right pumpkin to treasure for the fall season.
